51�Թ� welcomed alumni, civic leaders and community members to honor the late Chicago mayor and dedicate the Harold Washington Wall of Honor.

The alumna (BA Mathematics, '63) fondly recalls supportive faculty, easy access to downtown Chicago and classes with pioneering faculty member St. Clair Drake.

Panelists discussed fostering inclusion and leading with purpose in today’s evolving corporate culture.

“I want my professional career to uplift those underserved communities in Chicago first and foremost," he says. "And 51�Թ� was the obvious choice for my goals.”

The trio will support the Council’s mission of facilitating solutions to remove the gender gap in all aspects of the global economy.

Leticia Ransom (MBA, ‘95) and Arica Latimer (MSHRM, ‘15) proudly maintain a decade-long friendship and share a connection with 51�Թ�'s Heller College of Business.

Kathleen Mahoney, who earned her Special Education LBS1 Graduate Certificate from 51�Թ� in 2011, was recently awarded the Golden Apple for her work at Lake View High School.

The new members begin their three-year terms in June and bring a wide range of professional and personal leadership experiences.

In a powerful affirmation of its mission and future, 51�Թ� has announced the launch of the Legacy Fund, a new fundraising initiative made possible by a transformational $5 million gift from alumna Jane Stedman, B.A. ’75.

Hosted by actor Parvesh Cheena and featuring Broadway star Courtney Reed, the event provided an evening of entertainment and reflection of the University's legacy.

The event formally began the University's 80th anniversary celebration and was attended by nearly 200 alumni, faculty, corporate partners and Board of Trustees members.

During the luncheon's Q&A, Ayala-Bermejo discussed the legal challenges facing immigrants at the U.S.-Mexico border and how the Instituto works to support them.
